Expert Meeting of the 12th Conference of Arab Education Ministers

 

The Expert Meeting of the 12th Conference of Arab Education Ministers kicked off on November 23, 2021. The Conference is organized by ALECSO on 23-25 ​​November 2021, and kindly hosted by the Ministry of Education of the State of Palestine. 

The meeting was virtually attended by representatives from the following countries : UAE, Bahrain, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Oman Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Comoros, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, along with representatives from the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education, and the Arab Theater Authority. ALECSO’s relevant experts and a delegation from the Tunisian Ministry of Education and the Tunisian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture took part in the meeting.

The Conference offers an opportunity to share best experiences in terms of remedial education, and to discuss ways of improving its quality, strengthening partnership with civil society and relevant institutions, and enhancing inter-Arab cooperation in the fields of education.

The Expert Meeting involved three working sessions during which the following documents were presented :

  • Key Conference Document on “Remedial Education in the Arab Countries in the Context of COVID-19”;
  • Document on “ALECSO’s efforts to maintain continuity of learning during COVID-19”;
  • Document on “Remedial Education in the time of COVID-19 (The Palestinian Case)” presented by the Palestinian Ministry of Education;
  • Document on “The promotion of common Arab and human values ​​and their integration into educational curricula in the Arab world” presented by ALECSO;
  • Document on “The strategy for the development School Theater in the Arab world”, presented by the Arab Theater Authority.

Following the discussion of the above documents, a number of recommendations and proposals were formulated, which will be submitted to the Ministerial Meeting to be held virtually on November 25, 2020.
