UNESCO General Conference adopts resolution on « World Novel Week »

The resolution on the “World Novel Week” was adopted on November 18, 2021, during the meeting of the Culture Commission of the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference, with the approval and support of all UNESCO Member States. This achievement is the fruit of an initiative proposed by ALECSO and adopted by the Republic of Tunisia, and for which a draft resolution was submitted to the 210th session of the Executive Board.

The UNESCO Culture Commission commended ALECSO’s “World Novel Week” initiative, which came to emphasize the importance of reading as an indispensable means of transmitting and sharing knowledge, to encourage and motivate novelists and creative writers, as well as to increase interest in reading novels and enhance cultural and intellectual awareness.
