ALECSO Director-General meets in Paris with HRH Princess Haifa Al-Muqrin

   

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, met on November 16, 2021 in Paris with HRH Princess Haifa Al-Muqrin, Ambassador-Permanent Delegate of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO. The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, President of the Executive Board of ALECSO.

The Director-General expressed his delight at this opportunity to discuss and consult with Princess Haifa Al-Muqrin on questions of common interest. He highlighted the main activities and programs implemented by ALECSO, including, in particular, providing online educational platforms and computer devices to Arab countries with special needs in order to maintain the continuity of learning during the COVID-19 crisis. 

The meeting discussed the ways and means of boosting cooperation between ALECSO and the Arab Group at UNESCO. It also addressed the joint files submitted to UNESCO by Arab States,  in coordination with ALECSO,  for the inscription of Arab heritage elements on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including the “Arabic Calligraphy: Skills, Knowledge and Practices” file, expected to be inscribed during the next meeting of the World Heritage Committee.

On her part, Princess Haifa Al-Muqrin thanked the Director-General for his diligent efforts to enhance the work of ALECSO in its fields of competence, to build partnerships with relevant Arab and international organizations, and to support the joint inscription files submitted by Arab States. She indicated that the Permanent Delegation of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO stands ready to cooperate with ALECSO so that it can pursue its mission and achieve its goals in the Arab World.
