H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, inaugurated, on November 6, 2021  in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the First Nouakchott Youth Forum, held under the theme : “Mauritanian Youth and Community Development: Issues and Challenges”.

The opening session was attended by H.E. Mr. Mokhtar Ould Dahi, Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, as well as by the representatives of Arab and international organizations and civil society institutions, along with 300 young men and women from different Mauritanian Governorates.

In his opening remarks, the Director-General stressed that societies draw their strength from their youth who are the pillars of any nation, the driving force for its development, and the builders of its glory and civilization. When young people are properly prepared and are equipped with science and knowledge, they become more capable of meeting the requirements of the present and the challenges of the future.

During this forum, a number of Mauritanian Ministers and relevant Arab experts offered presentations in which they highlighted the realities of Mauritanian youth and the underlined the significant roles that young people can play in meeting challenges and promoting the advancement of their societies, which requires unleashing their potential, stimulating their creative and innovative capacities, and meeting their ambitions and aspirations.

The Forum offered an opportunity to formulate effective ways of enabling Mauritanian youth to achieve active integration within all components of society and undertake a key role in promoting sustainable development.
