ALECSO holds Coordination Meeting in preparation for   Second “Arab Code Week”

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ICT Department) held, on November 2, 2021, a coordination meeting, via Zoom, with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture and the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives, concerning preparations for the second edition of the Arab Code Week.

Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department, welcomed all attendees, and underlined the significant efforts undertaken by ALECSO to spread the culture of programming in Arab societies. He indicated that this event is designed to enable teachers, students, and all those interested in modern technologies to unleash their full potential,  by providing an exciting learning environment that helps to teach the basics of programming for all ages, especially young people. It thus offers them wide prospects to explore new disciplines, by involving them in software competitions, enhancing their scientific and educational skills, and thus enabling them to embrace creativity, excellence, leadership and innovation.

On his part, Dr. Ibrahim Moawad, who is assigned by the Egyptian National Commission to follow up the project, expressed his delight at hosting this important event in Egypt. He thanked ALECSO for this valuable initiative, and stressed that all conditions will be provided for the success of this event.

The initiative launched by ALECSO in the first edition of the Arab Code Week was presented by Ms. Widad Rezgui, President of the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiative, and many aspects pertaining to preparations for the second edition were discussed during this meeting. 

At the close of the meeting, it was agreed on the following :

  • Theme of the 2022 edition : “Artificial Intelligence and Environment Protection”
  • Date of Second “Arab Code Week”:  February 21-28, 2022.
  • The closing and prize-awarding ceremony will take place in Egypt.
