Second Conference of Arab Ministers and Officials   in Charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training

The Expert Meeting of the Second Conference of Arab Ministers and Officials in Charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, kicked off on October 26, 2021.

Organized by ALECSO, the Conference is scheduled for October 26-28, 2021, and is kindly hosted by the Tunisian Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. It aims to showcase Arab TVET experiences and to discuss ways of changing the prevailing societal perception of vocational education and training. It addresses the following themes :

  • Societal perceptions of technical and vocational training and ways of changing them;
  • Global experiences and emerging trends in the TVET sector;
  • The development of education curricula and programs toward aligning them with the skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Expert Meeting was attended remotely by the representatives of the following Member States : UAE, Bahrain, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Comoros, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen, along with representatives from ICESCO and the Arab Federation for Technical Education. It was also attended by ALECSO’s experts as well as a delegation from the Tunisian Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, and the Tunisian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture.

The Expert Meeting was devoted to presenting the main document of the Conference entitled “Technical and Vocational Education and Training : Between Societal Perception and Job Market Requirements, the document of the Tunisian Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, along with three documents on the implementation of the recommendations adopted at the first Conference held in Nouakchott in March 2017.

Following the discussion of the documents presented at the meeting, a number of recommendations and proposals were formulated, which will be submitted to the Ministerial meeting, to be held on October 28, 2021.
