H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on October 20, 2021, H.E. Dr. Ismail Abdel-Ghafar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
The Director-General welcomed the President of the Academy and his accompanying delegation, thanking him for this visit which offers an opportunity for further consultations on the forward-looking vision of both institutions.
The Director-General presented the main programs and activities currently undertaken by ALECSO in the Arab countries, and highlighted the challenges it has faced as a result of COVID-19, and the alternative ways and means it has adopted to overcome obstacles and pursue its tasks and activities as best as possible.
On his part, the President of the Academy expressed his pleasure to visit ALECSO and get closely acquainted with its work and activities. He commended the Organization’s role in performing the mandate for which it was established, and hailed its active performance and rich achievements in the educational, cultural and scientific fields. He stressed that the two institutions have a shared will to move ahead toward building a true partnership in various areas and toward further enhancing joint Arab action.
During this meeting, the two sides discussed the ways and means of enhancing cooperation between the two institutions and promoting coordination, consultation and expertise-sharing, as part of implementing the Cooperation Protocol signed on October 12, 2021 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
At the end of the meeting, the Director-General offered the “ALECSO Shield” to the President of the Academy.
