The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) was present at the Open Education Global Conference, held virtually on September 27 - October 1, 2021 (https://conference.oeglobal.org/2021/). It was represented in this event by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department, who participated, on September 28, 2021, in the session on “Inclusive and Equitable OER : Capacity-Building” with a paper on “ALECSO’s efforts to promote Open Education in the Arab World”.

Dr. Jemni offered an overview about the project that the Organization has been working on over the past few years, which is designed to promote the production, use, and sharing of OERs in the Arab world. He also highlighted the relevant awareness-raising and capacity-building activities implemented by the Organization, as well as the manuals and guidelines it had produced  to enhance the use, development and sharing of OERs.  Dr. Jemni also indicated that the Organization has developed the “ALECSO OER Hub”, (www.alecso.org/oer), an Arab common online platform designed to pool Arab digital OERs and to facilitate access to, and the sharing of, these resources by students, teachers, and all those interested in this field in all Arab States and around the world.
