ALECSO holds meeting of the Education Advisory Committee 

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Education Department) held, on September 17, 2021, a hybrid meeting of the Education Advisory Committee with the aim of formulating executive projects for the financial period 2023-2024, based on ALECSO’s Future Plan of Action (2023-2028). 

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department and Acting Director of the Education Department, and attended by 13 experts from Arab States (Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt) along with a number of Arab experts in the diaspora.

The meeting focused on the following topics :

  1. Developing education systems along the following lines :
  • Promoting early childhood and pre-school education;
  • Enhancing access to, and improving the quality of, pre-university education;
  • Enhancing life-skills education and citizenship education;
  • Developing the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system.
  1. Developing continuing education :
  • Developing literacy policies and programs toward promoting continuing education and lifelong learning;
  • Developing the adult learning and education (ALE) system.
  1. Promoting distance education/learning :
  • Improving the quality of distance education/learning.
  • Strengthening the capacities of teachers and faculty members in the field of distance education/learning;
  • Developing the assessment system in distance education/learning;

The participating experts recommended the formulation of projects aimed at  :

  • Developing educational tools and curricula;
  • Enhancing teacher competencies, 
  • Promoting blended learning/education;
  • Integrating Artificial Intelligence technologies into education curricula and student assessment;
  • Developing a unified Arab qualifications framework;
  • Making education accessible to children with special needs;
  • Developing social sciences curricula toward promoting the values ​​of citizenship and spreading the culture of moderation.
