H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, received, on September 8, 2021, H.E. Ms. Donia Ben Miloud, Regional Director for North Africa at the German Confederation for Adult Learning and Education.
Dr. Ould Amar offered a brief overview about ALECSO’s activities in terms of literacy and adult education, being a key element in the Organization’s policies, plans, strategies and programs. He highlighted ALECSO’s role in implementing the Arab Literacy Decade (2015-2024), and its initiative for the education of Arab children in areas of conflict and war. He also reviewed the relevant scientific references, strategic plans, guides and manuals published by ALECSO, as well as the training programs conducted by the Organization in the field of literacy and adult education.
On her part, Ms. Donia Ben Miloud expressed her thanks and gratitude to the Director-General, and briefed him on the main tasks and activities of the German Confederation for Adult Learning and Education. She indicated that the Confederation stands ready to cooperate with ALECSO and to establish sustainable partnership with it.
In the end, it was agreed to hold a meeting at ALECSO headquarters, to be attended by officials from literacy centers and institutions in the Maghreb countries, in preparation for the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the elaboration of an executive program.
