The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the virtual “Arab Regional Meeting on Education 2030”, organized by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab Countries (Beirut) on July 6-8, 2021.
The meeting was attended by officials and experts from Arab States and from regional and international organizations concerned with the implementation of SDG4 on quality education in the Arab region.
The objectives of this technical meeting are to :
- Present the SDG4 progress for the Arab Region;
- Identify challenges affecting progress of SDG4, and discussing innovative and promising approaches in the region especially related to crisis management and planning;
- Discuss issues and solutions related to monitoring the targets, data gaps and enhancing reporting;
- Reinforce regional commitment on moving forward on achieving Education 2030 Agenda, and address the impact of COVID-19 on education systems;
- Share best practices on advancing the SDG4 agenda at national, regional and global levels;
- Share understanding of progress made and of remaining identified challenges, gaps and priorities for action;
- Agree on follow up action plan at regional level to leverage assistance to the Arab States with a view of accelerating progress towards achieving Education 2030 Agenda.
