ALECSO holds training session on “UAV Applications in Precision Agriculture”

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Department of Science and Scientific Research) held, on June 28-30, 2021, in partnership with the Regional Center for Remote Sensing of North Africa States and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, a virtual training session on “UAV Applications in Precision Agriculture”. 

Training was provided by Dr. Nesrine Shehata, Researcher and Expert in Remote Sensing and Artificial Intelligence at Bordeaux INP University (France), and Dr. Nabil Saghir, from the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (Sudan).

Training was focused on :

  • Basic principles of remote sensing and its applications in the agricultural and environmental fields.
  • Modern remote sensing technologies and their effects on food security;
  • The use of modern technologies in precision farming;
  • UAV characteristics and applications to monitor and protect agricultural lands, forests and livestock;
  • Aerial photography and UAV image processing;
  • UAV mapping and 3D modeling;

The training session was attended by over 140 researchers and officials from relevant educational and governmental institutions from 16 Arab countries.
