Mauritania’s Minister of National Education and Educational Reform  receives ALECSO Director-General

 

 

H.E. Mr.  Mohamed Melaïnine Ould Eyih, Mauritanian Minister of National Education, Technical Training, and Reform, received, on June 27, 2021, at the Ministry’s headquarters, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. 

The Minister thanked the Director-General for this visit which offers an opportunity to address issues relating to education and explore ways of strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and ALECSO which are jointly involved in many projects and activities.

The Minister presented the main reforms that the Education Ministry is currently undertaking as part of implementing the program of H.E. the President of the Republic. These reforms involved, in particular, reviewing curricula and textbooks, building capacities at all stages of education, developing teacher skills and capacities in the use of modern technology, and improving the infrastructure of educational institutions. The Minister requested the support and expertise of the Organization, including through organizing training courses for Mauritanian teachers and providing online educational platforms to ensure the continuity of learning and eliminate school dropout.

On his part, the Director-General highlighted the main projects that ALECSO is currently working on, including the plans, strategies and specialized ministerial conferences scheduled to be held during this year, and indicated that the Organization stands ready to  help in building the capacities of Mauritanian teachers in various fields. He also expressed ALECSO’s readiness to hold working sessions with the Mauritanian National Commission, the Education Ministry, universities and other relevant institutions to explore opportunities for further partnership and cooperation. 

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue coordination between the Organization, the Ministry and the National Commission in pursuit of shared goals.
