Mauritania’s Minister of Culture, Handicraft, and Relations with Parliament   receives ALECSO Director-General

 



H.E. Mr. Lamrabet Ould Banahi, Minister of Culture, Handicraft and Relations with Parliament, and Chairman of the Mauritanian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, received, on May 24, 2021, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Nouakchott, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.

The Minister expressed to the Director-General his appreciation of the excellent cooperation between ALECSO and Mauritanian institutions active in the sectors falling within the Organization’s fields of competence. He commended ALECSO’s initiative to offer a thousand computers to the Mauritanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and expressed his thanks to the Organization for its significant efforts in response to COVID-19 and for providing online educational platforms, from which five Mauritanian universities have benefited. The Minister requested ALECSO to continue its support for and cooperation with the Ministry in other areas, and, in particular, to provide a heritage expert to offer guidance (face-to-face and remotely) to some of the Ministry’s personnel.

On his part, the Director-General thanked the Minister for the warm welcome and generous hospitality and for the excellent organization of the ceremony for the distribution of computers offered by ALECSO to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He reaffirmed, in this context, ALECSO’s determination to continue supporting Arab countries with special needs, especially to maintain the continuity of education through modern technological means.

The Director-General took this opportunity to present some of the main projects that ALECSO is currently working on, including the updating of the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture, the development of the Strategic Plan 2023-2028, and the preparation of the specialized ministerial conferences to be held during the current year. He also thanked the Mauritanian National Commission for its valuable cooperation with the Organization.

At the end of the meeting, the Mauritanian Minister reaffirmed his support for ALECSO so that it can continue implementing its mandate in the best of conditions.
