ALECSO strengthens cooperation with Saudi National Commission 

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization and the Saudi National Commission for Education, Science and Culture held, on May 20, 2021, the first (virtual) coordination meeting as part of the initiative to strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and ALECSO.

Attended by representatives from Saudi ministries, institutions, universities, federations, and research centers, the meeting explored the ways and means of further boosting relations between the two parties through the implementation of joint activities with concrete impact on the ground.

This meeting was opened by H.E. Mr. Hattan bin Samman, Secretary-General of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, who commended the high level of cooperation between ALECSO and the Saudi National Commission. He highlighted the significant role played by ALECSO in its areas of competence, especially its future-oriented plans, strategies and studies, and its initiatives to maintain the continuity of learning in response to COVID-19 education disruption.

On his part, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, expressed his sincere thanks to the Leadership, Government and people of Saudi Arabia for their support to the Organization so that it can best fulfill its mandate and provide Member States with forward-looking plans, programs, and strategies designed to serve Sustainable Development Goals. He also extended thanks to the institutions taking part in this coordination meeting which offers an opportunity to explore and discuss ways and means of further promoting joint action between the two parties.

Taking part in the meeting, H.E. Mr. Hani bin Moqbel al-Moqbel, member of the Executive Board for Saudi Arabia, stressed the need to benefit from ALECSO’s experience and expertise in its fields of competence, and to offer the Organization wider opportunities to build partnerships with Saudi institutions active in the educational, cultural and scientific fields.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to schedule a series of meetings between the participating parties to draw up cooperation programs and determine ways to implement them.
