ALECSO organizes Arab Code Week Closing Ceremony

 The closing ceremony of the Arab Code Week (ACW) was held, on March 24, 2021 at ALECSO headquarters. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, H.E. Mr. Fethi Sellaouti, Tunisian Minister of Education, represented by Dr. Ezzedine Zagrouba, Director-General of Tunisia’s National Center for Educational Technology, Ms. Widad Rezgui, President of the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives, the Ambassadors of Jordan, UAE, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, and Morocco to Tunisia, along with a number of national coordinators, educators, and students from Tunisia. Remote participants took part in the ceremony via Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

In his opening statement, Dr. Ould Amar welcomed all participants and expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to the Arab Education Ministers for their positive interaction with the first edition of ACW. He extended his thanks to all those who contributed to the organization of this major event, including educators, school directors, parents, national coordinators, trainers, and liaison officers. Special thanks were offered to all members of the supervisory committee, headed by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department and Executive Director of the ACW, as well as to Ms. Widad Rezgui, President of the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives and General Coordinator of the event.

On his part, Dr. Ezzeddine Zagrouba expressed his pride in participating in this major Arab event and thanked all those who contributed to the successful organization of the ACW. He indicated that the Tunisian Ministry of Education pays great attention to the fields of programming and digitization, which enable young people to unleash their skills and talents in modern technologies.

Dr. Jemni made a video presentation about the first edition of the ACW, in which he highlighted the goals underlying this event, organized jointly with the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives. He indicated that the event witnessed a massive participation from Arab students (200876), teachers (over 10000), and schools (1509), with no less than 13352 activities registered on the ACW platform. 

At the close of this ceremony, prizes were distributed to the winners of the ACW competitions.
