As part of strengthening cooperation between the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization and the Smart Learning Institute (SLI) in Beijing, the ALECSO Observatory held a Zoom meeting, on March 16, 2021, with SLI representatives, in order to explore ways of boosting cooperation in establishing the Smart Observatory, which involves developing digital applications and advanced software, and creating an interactive map that provides users with statistics, data and indicators in the fields of education, culture and science.
The meeting was an opportunity to present the activities of the Observatory and the implemented database. Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department, offered a presentation in which he highlighted ALECSO’s vision toward the Smart Observatory and the need to provide it with modern means and mechanisms so that it can best fulfill its role in following up the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
On their part, the SLI representatives welcomed cooperation with ALECSO in collecting data and indicators to enrich the Observatory’s database, as well as in sharing experience and expertise between the two parties and cooperating in designing the interactive map.
