The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in a videoconference meeting held, on March 15, 2021, by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, to examine the establishment of an Arab Observatory to Counter Crises, Disasters and Emergencies.
ALECSO was represented in this meeting by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department, who offered a presentation in which he highlighted the Organization’s experience in this field. He indicated that ALECSO welcomes the establishment of the proposed observatory, which will help Arab States to anticipate crises and emergencies, to present practical proposals to mitigate their impacts on citizens, and to strengthen preparedness, prevention, response and recovery capacities at national and regional levels.
The meeting was chaired by H.E Dr. Kamal Hassan Ali, League of Arab States Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs, in the presence of representatives from joint Arab action organizations and institutions.
