ALECSO Director-General receives Iraq’s Ambassador to Tunisia

 

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, received, on February 22, 2021, at ALECSO headquarters, H.E. Mr. Majid Al-Lajmawi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Tunisia. 

The meeting was an opportunity to explore the prospects for further enhancing relations between ALECSO and the Republic of Iraq, and to address the ways and means for Iraq to benefit from the Organization’s expertise in the fields of education, culture, science and scientific research.

Dr. Ould Amar reviewed the main projects and programs the Organization is currently working on, including, in particular, the Strategic Plan for the period 2023-2028, and the updated Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture. He also highlighted ALECSO’s role in promoting joint Arab action in the educational, cultural and scientific fields.

On his part, the Ambassador highly commended ALECSO’s valuable efforts in response to the special conditions imposed by the COVID-19 crisis, which involved intensive online activities, support to countries with special needs, and the design of electronic educational platforms to counter the problem of educational disruption and maintain the continuity of learning.
