H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, held, on February 10, 2021, a virtual meeting with H.E. Dr. Noura Al-Kaabi, President of the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and Minister of Culture and Youth.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Ould Amar welcomed the Minister as well as the Secretary-General of the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, Ms. Salma Al Darmaki, and her assistants. He seized the opportunity of this meeting to express sincere thanks to the UAE for its continuous cooperation with ALECSO, and its support and funding for the project of updating the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture.
The meeting addressed the ways and means to enhance cooperation between ALECSO and the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth in programs and projects of mutual interest.
During this meeting, the directors of ALECSO’s technical departments gave presentations on the Organization’s current priorities and future programs.
On her part, the Emirati Minister appreciated the opportunity to communicate directly with ALECSO’s technical departments, under the supervision of the Director-General, in order to take stock of the programs and activities implemented in 2020, and those scheduled for 2021. She commended ALECSO’s achievements in 2020, despite the difficult situation engendered by the COVID-19 crisis, including, in particular, the use of modern technologies and the development of electronic platforms to promote e-learning, especially in countries with special needs.
The Minister expressed her readiness to continue supporting the Organization in its future projects, and invited ALECSO to participate in “EXPO 2021” in the pavilion of the Ministry of Culture and Youth.
At the end of the meeting, the Director-General renewed his thanks and appreciation to the Emirati Minister for providing this opportunity for further consultation, as well as for the support offered to ALECSO by the United Arab Emirates, especially the hosting of the 22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, on the sidelines of “Expo Dubai” in December 2021. He also welcomed the Minister’s proposal for intensifying engagement with the UAE National Commission and hosting the activities scheduled for 2021-2022.
