The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Secretariat of the Executive Board and General Conference / National Commissions’ Section) held, on February 8, 2021, a second working session with the directors in charge of ALECSO-affiliated Chairs. The session was attended by the Secretaries-General of the Arab National Commissions of Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco.
Following presentations by the directors in charge of ALECSO Chairs, Dr. Mourad Mahmoudi, Secretary of the Executive Board and General Conference, emphasized the need to :
- Consider establishing a unified Arab Chair that adopts a project aligned with Member States’ needs and requirements in one of ALECSO’s fields of action, with the possibility of involving experts from outside the Arab world;
- Promote complementarity between the different Chairs affiliated with ALECSO;
- Involve the schools and clubs affiliated with ALECSO in all its activities.
The participating Secretaries-General of Arab National Commissions underlined the importance of the network of ALECSO’s Chairs, given the significant added value it can offer in terms of scientific research in the Arab world, in a way that serves the causes of the Arab Nation and of humanity as a whole.
This second working session concluded by confirming the recommendations agreed upon in the first session, particularly:
- Preparing a Network Performance Assessment Form, in consultation with Arab National Commissions.
- Setting up a scientific committee, composed of experts nominated by Arab National Commissions, in addition to ALECSO representatives, to be in charge of assessing the performance of the three networks (Schools, Clubs and Chairs).
