Launch announcement of the Arab Code Week 

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization announced, during a press conference, the launch of the “Arab Code Week” (February 8-15, 2021), jointly with the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives. The launch event was attended remotely by a number of Arab Education Ministers.

The “Arab Code Week”  is designed to spread the culture of programming in the Arab world, to help teachers and students enhance their capacities in modern technologies and electronic programming, and to provide an exciting learning environment that helps acquire the basics of programming for all ages, especially youth. The aim is offer them wide prospects to explore new disciplines and acquire scientific skills that enhance creativity and excellence in the fields of technology, science, mathematics, engineering and arts, in line with the global STEAM approach.  

Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department and Executive Director of the Arab Code Week, welcomed all attendees and gave the floor to H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. 

In his opening statement, Dr. Ould Amar stated that ALECSO stands ready to implement a series of integrated actions to spread the culture of computer programming, digital innovation, and entrepreneurship among young people. This involves providing training materials and methodologies, offering training-of-trainers sessions, and organizing training courses in computer programming and in two- and three-dimensional computer animation techniques for young people.  

Dr. Ould Amar commended the fruitful cooperation with institutions and associations concerned with educational, cultural and scientific issues, including the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives, ALECSO’s partner in organizing the “Arab Code Week”. 

Dr. Ould Amar then announced the official launch of the “Arab Code Week”.
