 ALECSO announces winner of 13th Ibn Khaldoun-Senghor Translation Award

 

As part of cooperation between the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), a Jury meeting was held remotely on December 9, 2020 to announce the winner of the 13th edition of “Ibn Khaldoun-Senghor Translation Award in Social Sciences”.
After deliberations, the Jury unanimously decided to grant the Award to Mr. Younès Ez-Zouaine and Mr. Abdelhak Boutaqmanti, from Morocco, for their translation, from French into Arabic, of Jacob Rogozinski’s book entitled : “Le Djihadisme : Le Retour du Sacrifice”. The Award-winning translation was published by Mominoun Without Borders Institution (Lebanon, 2020).
The Jury emphasized the importance of the issue addressed by the book for Arab readers, particularly at the present time, and appreciated the quality of the translation which combines faithfulness to the original text and simplicity of style.
The winners will receive the Award during a ceremony that will be organized at ALECSO headquarters in Tunis. The Award consists of a grant of 10,000 Euros and a certificate co-signed by ALECSO Director-General and the OIF Secretary-General.
