ALECSO statement on the “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People”

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) celebrates, on November 29, 2020, along with all components of the international community, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
As a reminder, in 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
ALECSO is keen on annually celebrating the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People, thereby reaffirming the centrality of the Palestinian Cause for the Arab Nation. ALECSO takes this opportunity to pay tribute to the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in their struggle to recover their legitimate rights and establish their independent State, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital.
On this occasion, ALECSO reaffirms that the international community is called on, today and more than ever before, to assume its moral, legal and humanitarian responsibilities, individually and collectively, towards the Palestinian people so that they can obtain their legitimate and inalienable rights and recover all their occupied territories.
ALECSO takes this opportunity to reaffirm its absolute support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate defense of their inalienable rights, foremost among which is the right to establish their independent State on their land. In this context, ALECSO will intensify its efforts at all levels to support the State of Palestine in the fields of education, culture and science. It will also pursue its work, jointly with UNESCO, for safeguarding the Palestinian heritage and inscribing it on the World Heritage List, and for standing against the Israeli occupation authorities’ attacks on the Palestinian historic sites and monuments.
