Convention for the Safeguarding of the intangible Cultural Heritage


As part of ALECSO’s continued efforts to preserve cultural heritage and promote its use in the service of sustainable development, and in order to upgrade the capacities of heritage conservation professionals in the Arab countries, the Culture Department of ALECSO organized, on November 12, 2020, a second virtual workshop for relevant specialists in the Comoros.
This workshop, which was moderated by the international expert Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki, was devoted to presenting the historical and legal framework of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage 2003, along with its main provisions.
Discussions focused on the Comoros’ state of implementation of this Convention and the country’s needs for preserving cultural heritage, using it to serve development, and building national capacities in this field.
