ALECSO holds Coordination Meeting on the “Arab Mathematics Olympiad” with Egyptian National Commission

 

 


H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of ALECSO, opened, on November 9, 2020, a coordination and consultative meeting in preparation for the organization of the second edition of the Arab Mathematics Olympiad. The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Ghada Abdel Bari, Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, along with mathematics experts from the ALECSO Olympiad scientific team, and from the Arab Republic of Egypt.
At the beginning of his statement, Dr. Ould Amar expressed his sincere thanks to H.E. Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, as well as to H.E. Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, for their continuous support to ALECSO in fulfilling its mission. He extended his thanks to Dr. Ghada Abdel Bari for her collaboration with ALECSO in implementing its projects and activities in Egypt, as well as to all the experts participating in the meeting.
Dr. Ould Amar underlined the need to make thorough preparations for this edition of the Arab Mathematics Olympiad, which he considered as exceptional by all standards. He indicated that ALECSO is working in coordination with the Egyptian relevant authorities, despite the constraints imposed by the COVID-19 crisis, in fulfillment of its obligations towards member States.
On her part, Dr. Ghada Abdel Bari expressed appreciation of ALECSO’s valuable efforts in these exceptional circumstances, and its endeavor to implement such qualitative events designed to heighten interest in basic sciences in the Arab countries. She indicated that Egypt stands ready to collaborate and coordinate with ALECSO in order to ensure success for the second edition of the Arab Mathematics Olympiad.
