ALECSO condemns insults to Prophet Mohammed

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), in the person of its Director-General, expresses its deep regret at the disgraceful and irresponsible act of republishing offensive caricatures of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
ALECSO considers that this despicable act, perpetrated by extremists filled with hatred and rancor, is an attack not only on the Prophet, the Islamic religion, and Muslims, but also on the values of coexistence, on humanity as a whole, and on dialogue among cultures and civilizations.
While condemning all forms of violence, extremism and aggression, ALECSO calls on all to engage in a calm and constructive dialogue for peaceful coexistence, to reject discord and enmity, to appeal to reason and wisdom, and to embrace the values of tolerance, fraternity and compassion among individuals, institutions, and states.
ALECSO also calls for using its virtual space as an intellectual and humanitarian forum that brings together all defenders of the values of truth, justice, and goodness and all peace-loving people in the world, to think of the ways and means of enhancing dialogue among cultures and peoples, in an endeavor to protect humankind and the values of peaceful coexistence from any assaults by fanatics, extremists, and the enemies of peace.
