ALECSO participates in the Arab Open Access Week

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the Arab Open Access Week, held remotely on October 23-26, 2020 to discuss issues related to free access to information, educational resources, open data, and relevant others, and their impact on Arab societies.
The International Open Access Week is an opportunity for the academic and research community to learn about the benefits and advantages of open access and keep abreast of global developments in this field, to enhance contact and communication among relevant experts and specialists, and to seek institutional support from universities and research centers.
As part of this global event, the Arab Community of Open Access (ACOA) organized the Arab Open Access Week, sponsored by the ARID platform, and with support from the Egyptian Library, Information and Archives Association.
ALECSO was represented in this event by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department, who offered a lecture entitled : “Open Learning and Open Educational Resources in the Arab World”, in which he highlighted the importance of OERs in promoting free access to science and knowledge. He also presented ALECSO’s project for the promotion of open educational resources, especially the Arab OER hub (www.alecso.org/oer).
