 ALECSO participates in the 3rd Digital China Summit

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the 3rd Digital China Summit, held on October 12-14, 2020 in the Chinese province of Fujian, with a lecture delivered by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department.
The China Digital Summit addresses such issues as Digital Government, Digital Economy, Smart Society, Smart City, Digital Silk Road, Big Data, Industrial Internet, Blockchain, Financial Technology, ICT infrastructure, Digital Health, Digital Environment and the Internet of things. This summit is attended by over 500 participants, including government officials, experts, scholars and industry representatives.
In his lecture, Dr. Jemni offered an overview of ALECSO’s main projects designed to optimize the use of digital technologies to serve education, culture and science in the Arab world. He highlighted, in particular, ALECSO’s e-learning initiative launched in response to the education disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is currently being implemented in a number of Arab countries, such as Djibouti, Comoros, Lebanon, Mauritania, and Yemen.
Dr. Jemni commended the cooperation between ALECSO and the Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University (SLIBNU), which has yielded numerous studies and books on the use of OERs, flexible learning in times of crises, and the promotion of digital accessibility for persons with disabilities.
