Tunisian Minister of Education receives Director-General of ALECSO


H.E. Dr. Fethi Sellaouti, Minister of Education of the Republic of Tunisia, received, on October 13, 2020 at the Ministry’s headquarters, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
At the beginning of the meeting, the Director-General congratulated the Minister on his appointment, wishing him every success in fulfilling his mandate. He commended the support offered to the Organization by the Tunisian official authorities so that it can perform its mission in the best of conditions. He also expressed his appreciation of the process of cooperation between the Organization and the Ministry, and stressed the need to strengthen these relations in order to meet common goals.
The Director-General reviewed the initiatives launched by ALECSO since March 2020 in response to the education disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the electronic educational platforms provided to a number of Arab countries.
On his part, the Tunisian Minister thanked the Director General for this visit which offered the opportunity to discuss cooperation between the two parties. He commended the efforts made by ALECSO to enhance its work in all its fields of competence and to make its expertise and outputs available for all member States. He stressed the need to focus attention on education in the post-COVID-19 era, which involves searching for new solutions for the future and making more extensive use of technological means.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to set up a joint committee to examine the prospects of cooperation between the two sides. The Minister also called for holding a joint meeting to discuss ways of benefiting from the online educational platforms developed by the Organization.
