Closing of training sessions on local governance and leadership skills

The training sessions on “local governance and leadership skills” were concluded at ALECSO headquarters on July 25, 2020. They were held as part of the implementation of the partnership agreement between ALECSO and the International Organization of Local Government (IOLG), in cooperation with the United Nations Human Rights Committee. Forty-two (42) participants took part in these training sessions which were moderated by a pool of international experts.
The training was targeted at municipal advisors, mayors, members of regional councils, members of organizations and associations, and other relevant actors. It was designed to build their capacities, skills and knowledge in local governance and sustainable development.
At the close of the training sessions, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, welcomed all partners and participants, and expressed his appreciation for the choice of ALECSO as venue for the training event, and of local governance as the topic of training. He stressed that such initiatives help to establish an adequate environment for true partnership between the active components of society and international organizations, and to meet aspirations for a comprehensive Arab development.
Dr. Ould Amar expressed his thanks and gratitude to Dr. Ahlam Arfaoui, President of the International Organization of Local Government, for her commendable efforts, high sense of responsibility, and valuable contribution to the success of the training event. He concluded by wishing a continuing cooperation in organizing important training sessions to further upgrade the level of training of all relevant actors.
