On the occasion of the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) on July 25, 2020, H.E. Director-General Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar made a statement in which he highlighted ALECSO’s achievements over the past five decades. Foremost among these achievements are the “Arab Education Strategy”, the “Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture”, the “Project for the Promotion of the Arabic Language toward the Knowledge Society”, and the Plan for the Development of Education.
Dr. Ould Amar indicated that the Organization has always been keen on combining theoretical rooting with field application in all its areas of action : teaching, training, publishing, Arabization, standardization of terminology, manuscripts preservation, heritage conservation, promotion of Arabic language, teaching Arabic to native and non-native speakers, consolidation of scientific research methods, and development of forward-looking visions.
The Director-General underlined the need for all to be well-prepared for the foreseeable future as well as for the far future. This, he added, requires clear, rational, human-centered strategies for reflection whose aim is to upgrade our competencies and skills in order to meet the requirements of the 21st century. Developing minds, unleashing creativity, and sparking innovation, he concluded, are our keys to a better future.
