The aim of this project is to document the main stages in the development of Arab ancient cities throughout history, using the latest technologies, as well as to make them known to the young generations in particular, and promote them as tourist and cultural destinations.
The project started with a pilot virtual visit to the ancient city of Tunis, followed by other virtual visits to historic sites in Lebanon (Anjar and Tripoli), Jordan (Amman, Jerash and some Umayyad Palaces), Egypt (Cairo and Alexandria), and Sfax (South of Tunisia) as part of the “Sfax : Capital of Arab Culture for 2016” event. Preparations are underway to conduct a virtual visit to the the old town of Hebron (Al-Khalil) and to the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
