ALECSO held, on April 11, 2020, a virtual training course on Open Educational Resources via the interactive ClassIn platform. Over 600 participants from 21 Arab States took part in this training event, organized as part of ALECSO’s e-learning initiative in response to school closure and educational disruption due to the Covid-19 crisis, and to ensure continuity of learning in the Arab countries. The course aims at training Arab teachers on how to use the digital tools and educational platforms provided through this initiative, and how to develop and provide digital educational contents.
In his opening address, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, thanked all participants and all partners and parties involved in the organization of this important event. He wished success to all Arab educational institutions in implementing ALECSO’s e-learning initiative in response to the Covid-19 crisis.
During this virtual training course,
- Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department, offered an overview of ALECSO’s projects to promote the use of information and communication technology in education;
- Melinda Boland, from the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), introduced the OER Commons platform;
- Mohamed Koutheir Khribi, learning technologies expert at ALECSO, introduced the basic concepts related to Open Educational Resources and the ways of access to the ALECSO OER Hub.
